17 years and counting

This blog is all about the boys but we interrupt for a minute to remind you why they are even here.
Tomorrow we celebrate our wedding anniversary. It’s hard to remember those incredibly hard first years, for the joy that we (most days, but it ain’t all peaches and cream) now share. But everything I think about writing to describe my husband sounds like some syrupy cliche stolen from a cheap card.
But he IS my best friend.
And he DOES know me better than I know myself.
And he STILL makes me laugh at least once a day.
And on top of that, he gets up every morning to pray for us. Uncomplainingly goes off to a high-stress job for 8-10 hours. When he gets home he cheerfully helps with the supper and puts his sons to bed, then spends a few hours talking to and being sweet to, me.
So you add these strong, yet tender qualities to his tall good looks and that sweet crooked grin and how could I not be totally in over my head for this guy…even enough to gush on the dangerous Internet!?
(note to single women reading this description-I can break your kneecaps without a drop of remorse. really.)

I’ve got my obvious shortcomings but one thing I am not is a fool. Which you’d have to be to let this man get away…
so here’s to a few more decades, baby.
love, Brenda

About sparrowjourney

Christian homeschooling mom to three boys, married to my best friend, John, for over 20 years. I love gardening without gloves, learning history with my kids, cooking with lots of butter, serving others, great books, rich coffee, studying the Bible, camping outdoors, scrapbooking, vintage home decor, the smell of rain and cut grass, authentic people, poetry, laughing until your sides hurt, and babies. oh and black licorice is pretty awesome.
