cooking lessons

Caleb, as most of you know, loves cooking. As an 8 year old chef, he of course prefers making desserts. Since I am trying to cut back on the sugar while we keep fighting this cold virus, we made cornbread instead. He LOVES cracking eggs. If I am doing anything in the kitchen he will start asking “are you gonna crack an egg? are you?! if you do, can I do it for ya? please? please!!!?” And one of the attributes I model for my sons, with daily exuberant singing, is that you don’t have to be good at something to enjoy it. Here, you see Caleb’s face? That is the face of broken shell bits in the batter.
It’s okay…if we don’t get them all, it’s just more calcium, right?

Isn’t that the sweetest thing you have seen today?!

(no, not the cornbread. the kid.)

Christian homeschooling mom to three boys, married to my best friend, John, for over 20 years. I love gardening without gloves, learning history with my kids, cooking with lots of butter, serving others, great books, rich coffee, studying the Bible, camping outdoors, scrapbooking, vintage home decor, the smell of rain and cut grass, authentic people, poetry, laughing until your sides hurt, and babies. oh and black licorice is pretty awesome.
