new pantry is complete.

The water heater is outside and now encased in an insulated wooden box. Of course, the first 24 hours it was outdoors we had a big freeze and John had to thaw the pipes out! However, they didn’t burst and are all cozily wrapped in foam, now.
Once the closet was empty, the world’s best father-in-law came over and set to work building shelves for me. I primed and painted and John laid the flooring but everything else was done by Lee I really ought to get him something for Christmas, hadn’t I?!

I was so excited on Saturday night, to be filling shelves and tucking things away! John and the boys made trip after trip into the house, carrying all our groceries in from the well-house. It filled the kitchen island and Josiah declared “You won’t have enough room!” but WE DID. Yay! I was even able to empty two regular kitchen cupboards. The back shelves are 18″ deep, and the side shelves are 10 inches, plus an area to hang my broom and beloved Swiffer WetJet mop.
Why yes, all my canned goods do face the same direction and every jar is labeled. What OCD?
Last night I cleaned the kitchen, started the dishwasher and turned off the lights. But I couldn’t shut the pantry door… I had to leave it open, so I could see it first thing in the morning and know I wasn’t dreaming!

Hi–so happy for you and your new pantry! Can’t wait to see it up close! Also, I switched from wordpress to blogger because I couldn’t personalize it very well unless I bought my own server. I hope you have better luck than I did with all that.

The pantry looks wonderful! I do love those glass jars all stacked side by side and tidy looking! I’m thinking that over Christmas break I might have to do some of those shelves, I really don’t like the system we have in our little pantry/closet. Yours looks so much neater and you don’t have to worry about some wanky support falling away while the shelf tumbles down on you. Tell Lee he can come visit me ANY TIME HE WOULD LIKE!
