We have a vintage white dish in the dining room, full of old scrabble tiles, with a display board. I change it often to say things like  “Be Grateful” or “Go Ducks” or “Merry Christmas”.

I have been delightfully surprised to see an occasional “I love Mom” and even “I love my wife” show up on the board! John left this sweet reminder a week ago-(someone might have been grouchy. not saying who. but I’m not always perky, folks!)

so it’s a fun little interactive style decorating, and a good use of an old board game that was missing pieces. It has its drawbacks though, since all three of our kids have a talent for spelling, and a taste for mischief. There is quite a bit of editing going on and no one ever ‘fesses up. You can generally tell by the proud twinkle in their eye when you ask “Now, who wrote THIS?!”

About sparrowjourney

Christian homeschooling mom to three boys, married to my best friend, John, for over 20 years. I love gardening without gloves, learning history with my kids, cooking with lots of butter, serving others, great books, rich coffee, studying the Bible, camping outdoors, scrapbooking, vintage home decor, the smell of rain and cut grass, authentic people, poetry, laughing until your sides hurt, and babies. oh and black licorice is pretty awesome.
