everyday.

I force the boys outside on every sunny afternoon for “PE”, even if 2 out of 3 insist they would rather read or play Legos (Sam is always up for being outdoors, and thanks me profusely for demanding his brothers join in). They go with slumping resignation, but soon I hear them laughing through the kitchen window, them chasing each other with Nerf guns or riding their bikes and I know, once again, that I am doing a good thing for their hearts, with this harsh rule…

almost everyday, Sam plays G.I. Joes, and Caleb doodles cartoons, while we do History Read-Alouds after lunch…

not almost, but every day, there is a full dishwasher waiting to be unloaded by a boy…

because there is always a sink full of dirty dishes, patiently waiting their turn…

and there is usually an index card propped up on the windowsill, some truth to ponder…

and there is always something growing outside (rhubarb, today)…

and animals that need feeding…

and one especially beloved animal, who acts as though everyone is sitting in HER seat…

and big brothers who pull up maps on their Ipods to teach insistent (but ignorant) little brothers that Vietnam is NOT “in Japan”, at all…

and pesky little brothers who climb right up into laps and, once proven wrong, choose to use humor (a sloppy smooch!) to win the battle, even IF he lost the war…

About sparrowjourney

Christian homeschooling mom to three boys, married to my best friend, John, for over 20 years. I love gardening without gloves, learning history with my kids, cooking with lots of butter, serving others, great books, rich coffee, studying the Bible, camping outdoors, scrapbooking, vintage home decor, the smell of rain and cut grass, authentic people, poetry, laughing until your sides hurt, and babies. oh and black licorice is pretty awesome.

Great pics, especially of the boys. My favorite is the GI Joe war carnage. LOL! Caleb makes me laugh.
I put index cards & post-its up with scripture all over too.
    Blessings ❤
