Our first High School student…

Josiah does his school work independently. He starts early and likes to work in his bedroom, at his own desk, with his own computer, without little brothers chatter to interrupt or distract. The cat is welcome company, however. On this day I had gone into his room to just snap a few photos of Zuzu his faithful companion, and capture the way she lays across the back of his chair…

This is the look of a focused 15-year-old boy saying “Mom. Seriously. Are you finished?”

While he is working through his first year of independent High School, and I am still figuring out all the transcripts and credits, it looks like he will have done the equivalent of completing both his freshman and sophomore requirements, by the Summer. I am so proud of our intelligent, sweet firstborn child! Though he started kindergarten at age 6, he badly wanted to be in 10th grade NOW, and so he did the work to earn the right…

and I admit to wishing (quietly) but fervently that his younger brothers had the same mindset about school!

About sparrowjourney

Christian homeschooling mom to three boys, married to my best friend, John, for over 20 years. I love gardening without gloves, learning history with my kids, cooking with lots of butter, serving others, great books, rich coffee, studying the Bible, camping outdoors, scrapbooking, vintage home decor, the smell of rain and cut grass, authentic people, poetry, laughing until your sides hurt, and babies. oh and black licorice is pretty awesome.
